SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - As COVID consumes people’s attention Nebraska Strong and Scottsbluff Public School Choices team up to brighten the day of residents at Western Nebraska Veterans Home. Students from Scottsbluff Public Schools Choices made 80 custom blankets with the individual’s name and card attached to it.

Due to COVID restrictions students and staff could not enter the building to see the residents. So they handed them to the workers who brought them in.

“We’re giving to people instead of ourselves because usually with Choices we go out and we obviously do stuff for the community. But we’re also doing more for the community instead of doing just one thing one day. We’ve been doing this for multiple days,” said Scottsbluff High School student Elijah Liebich.

Team Lead for Nebraska Strong Matt Smith said “Any interaction with an outside entity like a high school or our team or anything like that usually and we try to bring a smile to their faces.”
