SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - In a special School Board meeting two new members were sworn in at Scottsbluff High School. Scott Reisig and Beth Merrigan received a nice welcome from current board members and immediately got to work with the agenda.
“I feel honored and really proud to be part of the board to know that the folks of Scottsbluff feel like I can do something positive to impact education of the students,” says Merrigan. “It means a lot to me and the education for the students means a lot to our community those are the people that will become leaders in our community.”
The School Board unanimously voted for current board member Ruth Kozal to be President.
“Any good communication starts with listening,” says Merrigan. “Taking the words of others and understanding others and then translating that into programs or actions policies for our school district. All that becomes part of leadership but it all starts with listening.”
The board heard presentations from local school representatives for structural renovations.
“I’m a good problem solver and I got a lot of empathy and I like to listen to people,” says Reisig. “I think I’m here to listen I am here to hear what we need and any problems I’m happy to dig in and get on work on them.”
“Well education has always been a passion of mine. I always loved learning new things brought my kids up there’s always something new to learn,” says Reisig. “I feel like the this area has given a lot to me and my family so I thought this was an opportunity to give back a little bit so really nothing more than that.”
