SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - A water main break in Alliance early Tuesday morning left residents between the 1400 and 1600 block of Emerson without water for approximately 6 hours.

The main broke between 5 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to Alliance Public Works Director Ross Grant. Crews arrived shortly thereafter to begin repairs.

“We received a call somewhere between 5 and 6 a.m. this morning from a home owner letting us know that water was coming out of the ground,” Director Grant said Tuesday. “The cause of the break is unknown. This time of year there are multiple factors that could lead to that --age of the pipe or shifting ground due to temperature changes.”

The water main was repaired at around 11 a.m. Tuesday and is now functional.
