Western Nebraska Regional Airport receives $ 1 million dollars in federal funding
Relief comes from the Airport Coronavirus Response Grant Program
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Western Nebraska Regional Airport receives just over a million dollars in grant money from the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) to help them financially with needed airport maintenance and projects.
“When we operate on a million dollar budget it gives us an opportunity to do some things we couldn’t normally do,” Raul Aguallo Airport Director Western Nebraska Regional Airport. “We are allowed to spend that money on anything we can right a check for it will be right out there for the public to see what we’re doing. The board will be talking about the projects as we’re doing them we’re excited.”
The NDOT received $12.5 million dollars through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Coronavirus Response Program. The NDOT allocated the money to airports throughout Nebraska that have been affected by the pandemic including Chadron. Airport concessions will get relief as well.
“There are things that we can’t normally do like hangars and things like that some thing we need,” said Aguallo. “It gives us an opportunity to do things we can’t get funded for by any other means.”
