SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) -The search continues for a new city manager in Alliance and city council is interviewing the the two finalists.

“I have a Master’s Degree in Public Administration I’ve been in this business over 30 years,” said Jim Thomas City Manager Candidate.” I have done a lot of economical development and I have a lot of redevelopment in downtowns. I have built infrastructure not only under the ground but above ground.”

Alliance city staff said they took candidates for a tour of the city.

“The tour was great! All of the department heads that I got to meet were great,” said Jeff Hecksel City Manager Candidate. “I was appreciative of the opportunity to talk with them they were very helpful very informative and I appreciated that the mayor actually took me around. I got to see quite a bit of stuff within the community. It was neat.”

Both candidates find the city of Alliance to be quality place to work.

“It’s a full service community I would say a full service plus,” said Hecksel. “You don’t find communities particularly of this size that have the breath of services offered that Alliance has so that’s one thing. Secondly it’s in the part of the United States where I have not spent time.”

“I think they’re ripe for some economic development,” said Thomas. “They got some good bones to them and I hope to add to the work that’s been done before me. This is a community that’s had the council manager form of government for more than a hundred years so it’s well established.”
