SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Alliance City Council votes unanimously Tuesday night to provide radios and police cars as part of the Alliance Police Department’s Strategic Plan.

“That we’re going to have a community partnership we’re going to prevent crime and disorder and we’re going to enhance our efficiency and euphoria,” said Philip Lukens Alliance Police Chief. “That means that we also want to make sure that our employees are happy people are what is the euphoria part of it We actually need our officers to enjoy their job because as they enjoy their job they do a better job in the community.”

“Well it’s going to increase our effectivity for the community,” said Lukens. “We’re not going to have time wasted driving back and forth to the police department. We’re going to have a greater visual visibility of the police officers in the community driving around. They’ll see more of the cars and we will be able to get to things faster should there be any major incident.

“What we have been able to do is purchase some upgraded consoles which will allow us to join the state radio system,” said Lukens. “That will gives us interoperability state wide we’re going to be able to work with a lot of other agencies and we’ll be able to communicate efficiently.”

“I think the biggest thing is how much we appreciate the citizen support the community support and some of the analyzing we did with the strategic plan,” said Lukens. “We sent out a survey the citizens responded we really got to hear their feedback and that really helped us to assess that what our priorities are and help set our compass to make sure we are meeting our community’s needs.”
