New Scottsbluff City Manager Dustin Rief gives a glimpse of the job
Rief is a few weeks into the job
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) -The city of Scottsbluff has a new permanent city manager in Dustin Rief. After a few weeks he is getting himself settled in with the community.
“We’re from Nebraska originally my wife and I and it’s halfway between family,” said Rief. “I have family on the western slope of Colorado and also in eastern Nebraska. So for us it was kind of in between spot we’ve been looking out in this area it’s pretty close to Colorado and Wyoming. We still have that Nebraska hometown feel and that’s what we really liked about it.”
“It’s exciting you know my career goal was to be when I started this went back to school was to be a city manager of a community between ten and twenty thousand,” said Rief. “I am sitting right where I want to be it’s a good place to raise my family and it’s a good place everybody has been super welcoming here.”
“Right now I am really just in the evaluation phase of looking as to what are we doing right what can we do better at and how we can do a better job collaborating in those things and focusing on the first ninety days,” said Rief.
“One of the most important things of just getting started here is getting to know their motivation for being an elected official and what they want to see,” said Rief. “As I have started meeting with each of them individually and understand what they see as needs and those kind of things really helps me to get a broader perspective and how to help guide them but also help lead the city.”
