Scottsbluff is gearing up for Cinco De Mayo
The first time it will be held downtown
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - With May just around the corner the community will be able to enjoy Cinco De Mayo parade coming to Scottsbluff.
The Downtown Scottsbluff Association said the celebration begins May 5 at downtown Broadway 18th Street Plaza. The event will include a car show, food trucks, live music, and the best of the west taco throw down.
“The Downtown Merchants felt it was important because they wanted make downtown Scottsbluff kind of a gathering place,” said Starr Lehl Economic Development Director City of Scottsbluff. “Every time they think of what’s going on in Scottsbluff we want to think about things going on downtown. It’s really important that we have a really strong core business and community gathering place in downtown Scottsbluff.”
Downtown Scottsbluff Association said also in the mix on May 7 there will be a dancing contest called the Royal Pageant at the Guadalupe Center. On May 8 a parade will take up all of East Overland St. The action will return to the Guadalupe Center where a citizen in the community will get the key to the city for grand marshal.
“We all get together and it’s a family function it’s open to the public it’s open for everybody to and enjoy,” said Mary Ann Shockley Coordinator Director Royal Pageant. “To see our culture and how we take pride in our culture and we showcase that through dance and our food which is the best food in the panhandle.”
