Chadron selects a new city manager
City council votes unanimously
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Chadron city staff said the city council brings on Scott Meszaros to be the new city manager. Council voted 4-0 Thursday night. Meszaros has experience as a city manager in Meeker, CO and as a town clerk in Monument, CO.
Chadron Mayor Mark Werner said they selected Meszaros because he is not brand new or toward the end of his career but in the middle. Werner adds in his role a lot of hard work is put forth moving the process along.
“Now we went through this three years or a little over three years ago when our previous city manager,” said Werner. “I sat on the selection committee that time I didn’t realize how much work the mayor had to do to make this work out alright. I am pretty pleased and I am very relieved not just for me but for everybody,”
Werner city manager candidate selection takes up a lot of time with background checks and social media. All roads lead to the city manager whether it’s a resident or the mayor inquiring about something needing to get done. They expect a decision from Meszaros on Monday.
“The ability to successfully manage you know 50 plus people is not a skill that everyone has,” said Werner. “If you can’t get 50 people all going in the same direction there is four or five that can just make your life miserable. We don’t think Scott or any other of the three for that matter would have had any trouble.”
