NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) SCOTTSBLUF, Neb (KNEP)- The forecast for the upcoming week is a pretty simple one - sunshine with more summery temperatures. A ridge of high pressure aloft plus a surface high pressure system sliding through the area will keep the weather very quiet and very warm. The good news is that dew point temperatures should remain very comfortable through the early week as a drier airmass takes hold over the area.

High temperatures will be similar to what we saw on Sunday, continuing the trend of 90-degree highs for most of the area with southeast winds at 5 to 10 MPH. Be sure to have your sunscreen ready as Monday’s UV Index will be very high.

As the upper level ridge continues to build and amplify into the area, temperatures will stay in the 90s for much of the week with continued sunshine. However, Tuesday evening winds will become breezy with gusts up to 20 mph.

If you’re looking for any breaks in the heat this week, you’ll want to look away. Much of the week next week is headlined by some blazing heat as temperatures are forecast to reach the mid and upper 90s and potentially into the lower triple digits through much of the week. Chances for any meaningful moisture are slim to none over the next week as mainly hot and dry weather is on tap.

Temperatures continue to warm with little breaks from the heat.
