CRETE, Neb. (KNEP) - The Alliance Post 7 Senior Legion baseball team open Class B State Tournament action in exciting fashion on Saturday. Spartans coming from behind to defeat Arlington 3-2 in round one.

Arlington led the contest most of the way scoring once in the 2nd inning and once in the 5th to take a 2-0 lead.

Alliance stayed around behind a strong day from starting pitcher Chance Crowe who pitched five solid innings.

Spartans offense finally got to Arlington starter Zach Vanek in the 6th inning as they pushed across three runs to take the lead. Caeson Clarke, Mario Garza, and Chase King all had a RBI in the inning.

Jakob Callan came in to close the door the final two innings on the mound for Alliance pitching a scoreless 6th and 7th inning.

The win sends Alliance into the second round where they will face Central City on Sunday.
