SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - One man from New York City is doing a 500 mile walk from Scottsbluff to Omaha to raise awareness for childhood cancer. His name is Jim Hickey. Jim has done many walks before for certain kids with cancer. He is doing this 500 mile walk in honor of a 5 year old little girl named Paishence from Cozad. Paishence is battling a brain tumor. Combining this walk with the others Jim has done in the past will equal to about 8,610 miles. Jim says, “The reason why I am doing this is because I saw my dad pass away in front of my eyes, my brother was diagnosed with it 6 months after my father. The surgery was a day before my dads one year anniversary and with those two things happening so close together just did something to me. And I knew that I had to do something to make a difference. And my goal was just to walk across the country one time and God had other plans. So once I took that first step it led me to where I am today.”

Jim started his walk from Scottsbluff this morning (September 16th, 2021), and will get to Omaha as quick as his legs will take him!
