Western Nebraska Pioneers one of seven teams leaving Expedition League
Seven teams heading to form new Independence League starting in May.

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The Western Nebraska Pioneers will be in a new league when the season begins in May. That’s because seven teams from the Expedition League deciding to leave the league due to internal issues with league management.
Pioneers, along with the Badlands Big Sticks, Canyon County Spuds, Casper Horseheads, Fremont Moo, Hastings Sodbusters, and Spearfish Sasquatch will form a new league called the Independence Baseball League.
The league currently looking for an 8th team before the start of the 2022 season.
The Independence League will run May 24th through July 30th followed by a week of playoffs to crown the season champion.
