SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Western Nebraska Community College basketball teams at home on Monday taking on Northwest Wyoming.

In the ladies contest WNCC got a big night from Ale’jah Douglas as the Lady Cougars rolled to an 82-62 win. Douglas finished with 27 points on the night. Payton Fields chipped in with 12 points.

WNCC improves to 1-0 on the season and will return to action Friday against Northwest College again in Powell.

The Cougar men journey to a win a little more difficult. WNCC erases a double digit deficit in the second half to force overtime and then earn an 87-81 win over Northwest. WNCC started the second half in a little trouble as they trailed big to the Trappers. However WNCC went on a key run late in the contest to eventually tie the game.

In the overtime WNCC turned up another gear outscoring Northwest 13-7. Carter Brown, Rodney Sawyer, and Them Koang led the WNCC offense with Brown leading the Cougars with 20 points.
