Eastern Wyoming and Western Nebraska split rivalry games

Lancer men and Cougar ladies pick up wins on Tuesday night.

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Western Nebraska Community College and Eastern Wyoming College basketball teams squaring off on Tuesday night in men’s and women’s basketball.

On the men’s side Eastern Wyoming (3-3) used a big first half and never looked back to give Western Nebraska (4-1) their first loss of the season 90-63.

Lancers took advantage of WNCC turnovers and poor shooting in the first half to roar out to 46-18 halftime lead.

WNCC would win the second half scoring but the deficit was to big to overcome.

Cougars had just two players reach double figures scoring Them Koang with 20 points and Carl Thorpe with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

While the Lancers had four players reach double digits scoring led by Quincy Taylor with 18 points. Kayden Toldson and Nikolas Gustavson each finished with 17 points followed by Tom Mark with 16 points.

The ladies contest saw Martice Brooks have a monster game as nationally ranked Western Nebraska (4-0) defeated Eastern Wyoming (1-5) 81-55.

WNCC took control early in the contest and went into halftime with a 43-24 lead.

Brooks scored a game high 20 points in the contest.

In addition to Brooks two other Cougars finished with double digit points Amani Brown (10 points), and Ale’Jah Dougles (12 points).

While the short handed Lancers had two players reach double figures in scoring. Rosa Revueltas (19 points), and Morrill grad Libbie Schaefer with (13 points).
