SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Riverstone Bank made their rounds today, picking up canned food items from different elementary schools around Scottsbluff.

Local schools collected can goods that overflow local pantries. Riverstone Bank was challenging schools with a weight challenge with their canned goods.

The school that collects the most non perishable food items by weight can choose either to receive $300 cash for their school or a private showing of the holiday movie at the Midwest Theater.

The students would love to win, but they know the true meaning of helping others in the community.

One Lincoln Elementary School student said,” It makes me feel good because if our family has that stuff then their family should have it too.”

Another student said,” It makes me feel good just to know that I’m helping people. I’m having fun with it but also I’m helping people too.”
