Scottsbluff County man arrested for allegedly having possession of Fentanyl

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - According to the Affidavit, officers observed a white Ford Ranger pick up truck completing an improper stop that lead into essential fuels parking lot.

The truck came to an abrupt stop in the parking lot. Police say the front seat passenger immediately exited the vehicle and the officers instructed him to sit back into the vehicle he complied.

Three people were in the vehicle.

Officers allegedly confiscated a small jewelry bag containing brown powder from Joseph VanWinkle .

VanWinkle identified the powder as Fentanyl.

VanWinkle was then placed under arrest. Police say he later slipped his hand from the handcuffs while being transported to jail.

He removed something from his shoe and place it in his body. VanWinkle later removed a plastic baggy containing multiple blue pills.

VanWinkle allegedly had twenty Fentanyl pills in that baggy.
