Shooter at large following evening homicide in Scottsbluff

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - A shooter is at large following an evening homicide in Scottsbluff.

According to Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer Scottsbluff Police confirmed a shooting took place at 1713th Avenue Z.

A 63 year old woman named Karen Cooper the victim was shot and killed, Ms. Cooper was currently residing in Scottsbluff, NE.

Local emergency personnel arrived and they were unable to save her life.

A manhunt is now underway for a male suspect identified as Davin Darayle Saunders he is a black male 5′11″, 190-200lbs.

Spencer says Davin Saunders is considered armed and dangerous and you should not approach him.

The arrest warrant is for the following charges:

1 Count of Murder in the Second Degree; Class 1B Felony

1 Count of Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person; Class 1D Felony

1 Count Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony; Class 1C Felony

The shooting took place at approximately 5PM on May 24th.

Information was developed by Investigators that Saunders was last in Cheyenne, Wyoming during the evening hours of May 24, 2022. It was also reported that he had left the area of the Cheyenne Wal-Mart on foot. The Cheyenne Police Department assisted the Scottsbluff Police Department in investigating this lead.

Saunders has an extensive history of violence and should be considered armed and dangerous. Please contact local law enforcement should you see Saunders.
