Tornado shelters in Scotts Bluff County

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - May, June, July, and parts of August is when Tornadoes are more than likely to hit our area.

If a Tornado were to ever occur in Scotts Bluff County there are multiple locations you can take cover.

These locations are called Tornado Shelters, and they will be posted outside a business with a yellow sign for anyone to come in and take shelter for safety reasons.

Tim Newman Director of Region 22 Emergency Management says “What we teach is the word Duck which stands for down to the lowest level of the home, under something sturdy, cover your head, and keep in the shelter until the danger has passed.”
