SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - With the start of fireworks sales beginning June 25th within our area, some may be wondering about firework safety and the importance of it.

Starting June 25th through the 4th of July fireworks will legally be able to be sold and fired from 8:00am through 10:00pm.

On the 4th of July you will be able to have a extra few hours to fire your fireworks from 8:00am until midnight on the 4th of July only.

Tom Schingle Scottsbluff Fire Chief says “As far as firework safety, we always want everyone to have a fun and safe time but keep in mind of the rules as far as don’t set fireworks off near combustible materials, always have some type of extinguishing agent with you such as a garden hose, fire extinguisher, or a bucket of water or a pale of water. We recommend soaking fireworks for about 24 hours prior to throwing them away. Finally make sure everything is fully extinguished before you dispose of them.”
