Teachers from Pakistan visit our area

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Teachers from Pakistan are visiting Western Nebraska from September 23rd- Saturday September 24th.

While in Western Nebraska they will engage in a full itinerary of activities, including tours of local landmarks, schools, and businesses.

This program is all made possibly by the University of Omaha International Studies Program, and the goal of the program is for professional development for English language teachers and a cultural exchange and building an understanding between citizens of both the U.S. and Pakistan.

Below is a full itinerary list:

Friday, September 23, 2022

4:00 p.m. (MST) – Arrive at Chimney Rock Visitor’s Center

5:00 p.m. – Depart Chimney Rock Visitor’s Center, Travel to Scottsbluff

5:30 p.m. – Arrive in Scottsbluff, Western Nebraska Community College, Harms Advanced Technology Center, 2620 College Park Drive

6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. - Welcome and introduction of community leaders and Pakistani guests. (WNCC, Chamber of Commerce, Scottsbluff Public Schools, Gering Public Schools, City of Scottsbluff, City of Gering, Western Sugar Co-op, Kelley Bean Corporation, Regional West Medical Center, Local Committee) Others???

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Dinner at WNCC– Vegetarian Meal

7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. – presentations by local organizations about their facilities (WNCC, Western Sugar, Kelley Bean, City of Scottsbluff, City of Gering, Regional West Medical Center, Cattle Producer)

8:45 p.m. – Depart WNCC for Hotel

Saturday, September 24, 2022

8:00 a.m. – Depart Hotel for Adams Family Farm

8:15 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. Tour working farm (Adams Family), 230710 Highland Road, Scottsbluff (Ashby Adams (308) 672-4796) Please pull the bus all the way to the back of the property, this is the day of their Fall Festival so there will be a lot going on.

9:15 a.m. – Depart Adams Family Farm for Scottsbluff High School

9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – Tour Scottsbluff High School Career Academy (Kenna Urwiller, Assistant Principal (308) 631-2783 will meet you at the front door of the school). Please, park the bus in the parking lot to the northwest of the building.

10:30 a.m. – Depart Scottsbluff High School for Legacy of the Plains Museum

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Tour Legacy of the Plains Museum

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Catered Vegetarian Lunch at Legacy of the Plains Museum

1:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. – Depart Legacy of the Plains Museum for Scotts Bluff National Monument

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Tour Scotts Bluff National Monument

2:00 p.m. – Depart Gering for Alliance (Carhenge)

Assan Das Pakistan Teacher says “The thing I like the most is that when they greet it is hello, good morning next thing is that they are so frank and friendly, regarding their corporative nature, they ask questions like how can I help you and I feel confused.”

Amna Zulfiqar Pakistan Teacher says “It’s an amazing opportunity and the best thing of this program is the cultural exchange and that is what I like the most.”
