SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) -With the weather changing, the University of Lincoln Extension center is offering tips to take care of your lawn and garden.

This time of year a lot of change happens with someone’s lawn or garden. A lot of the change is color or dormancy. The UNL Extension Center recommends ways to keep your lawn looking great.

  1. Watering is important for growth, and trees need lots of water for better root depth, so giving a deep watering once a month will help growth, a common rule is after the holidays so enjoy the day then water.
  2. Falling leaves could be used to help fertilize parts of the lawn, they can be mowed with a mulch mower and left in place for the season.
  3. Apply nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, or other chemicals that can be used for plant growth during this time.
  4. Don’t cut of the unnecessary limbs or prune trees during this time as it could expose them to frost damage, they can be done towards the end of winter.

These were just a few tips, but the UNL Extension center could give more if people need them, they can call (308) 632-1230 or visit their website.
