SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Snow fall has landed within our area, and we have winter season car tips for everyone.

First off check your tire pressure before you head off on the roads, tire inflation is expected to drop as you hit the roads with temperatures dropping.

Second, your child may be wearing larger than usual winter coats/jackets so make sure your child’s car seat is buckled up tighter than usual.

Last and finally be alert when driving, meaning do not call-text and drive expect delays and always be alert!

Sgt. Phil Eckerberg at Scottsbluff Police Department says “The roads are slicker than normal, so basically using some mathematical formulas it’s going to take you at 30mph its going to take you about 150ft to come to a stop, so because of that information that means that one you need to drive slower, two it’s going to take longer to stop if your coming up behind somebody that’s driving in front of you it’s going to take you half a football field to be able to come to a stop, so you need a wider gap between you and the vehicle in front of you, just because it’s going to take longer to come to a complete stop.”
