Gering City Council approves funding for Twin Cities Development

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The Gering City Council will be matching funds for the 2023 Western Nebraska Workforce Housing Grant.

On Monday, the Gering City Council discussed and took action on a fund request from Twin Cities Development for the 2023 Western Nebraska Workforce Housing Grant. The City of Gering will be matching $200,000 and it will be used to help increase the amount left from the previous grant.

“In 2020, Gering put in $150,000 to assist with the match of this and the total fund from 2020 was $1.8 million and we have about $12,000 left of the fund at its current limit,” Twin Cities Development Executive Director Jordan Diedrich said.

Twin Cities development will also be speaking to Scottsbluff City Council at its next meeting about matching funds as well.

Other actions the council discussed and took action on included finding a Facility Master Plan for Five Rocks Amphitheater, as the council approved the bid from Ayres Associates who the city has worked with previously on its compressive plan.
