SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Gering High School students will soon see expanded opportunities to build upon their success in STEM education.

Project Lead the Way awards GHS with a $16,000 grant to enhance the engineering career pathway.

Project Lead the Way encourages students to adopt a problem-solving mind as well as real world problems.

This grant will be used for educator training and the purchase of curriculum and classroom resources.

Aaron Pierce Gering’s S.T.E.M. instructor says, “Right now we are teaching a class called engineering and design or engineering problem solving which are just very basic introduction classes. AS part of the grant we have to offer a new class next year and then the following year, we have to offer two classes. Next year we are going to change that class and it will be engineering essentials which will be another intro class and then after that it will be intro to engineering, which is just a little step beyond that class, so just continuing to build on a previous class.”
