GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The Gering City Council has approved a redevelopment plan for southeast Gering.

On Monday, the Gering City Council heard and took action on a redevelopment plan for a portion of Gering, east of County Road 22 and south of D Street. The approved plan will feature residential zoning, community based facilities, and recreational areas.

Much of the residential zoning will feature container style apartments for workers, single family homes, apartments, and potentially custom made homes.

“The container will be more rentals but you will also have some normal sized lots for single family homes and then potentially some larger residential lots for maybe a little bit more upscale custom homes,” Gering City Engineer Annie Folck said.

The city has not discussed a date for construction to start and can be contacted at 308-436-5096 with questions about the redevelopment plan.
