Local Artists & Reconnect Scottsbluff collaborate to create work of art in Gering
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Community members come together to beautify our community.
Local artists Dan Quijas, Carlos De La Cruz, and Michael Marquez along with students from Reconnect Scottsbluff collaborate to design and create a mural in Gering.
The mural is located behind the Gering bakery, as the building was severely vandalized over recent months.
This work of art is a representation of Gering featuring welcome to Gering sign, hot air balloons, bikes, runners, and the monument.
Back in October 2022, same efforts were made at a building in Scottsbluff to help improve the community through art.
Dan Quijas local artists says, “We had a previous project that we got done, basically it started the same way, we took a building that got vandalized and restored it to glory for the community pretty much. "
Carlos De La Cruz local artists says, “We had help from various businesses, we are very grateful to B&C Steel because they donated some money to the project, Diamond Vogel donated a ton of paint. I put in some of my own supplies like scaffold.”
Michael Marquez local artists says, “You can see a little bit of the Gering and Scottsbluff have basically, for people who come can see the monument, the hot air balloons, little but of everything Gering shows.”
Cesar Orozco student at Reconnect Scottsbluff says, “We came here and basically just scrapped off the graffiti kind of prepared it for them and then we went over it with white with this building and the other building and got it ready for the artists.”
