LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska Football Coach Matt Rhule announced Monday that three players are out for the rest of the season due to injuries.

Running backs Gabe Ervin, Jr., and Rahmir Johnson as well as defensive back Dwight Bootle II are all sidelined and need surgery for their injuries, Rhule said.

Rhule said Rahmir will miss his senior season due to a dislocated shoulder. “The football impact aside, especially for Rahmir who’s a senior, I can just tell you it’s heartbreaking on this end. Unbelievable young man - just a leader.”

Ervin has a dislocated hip. “(Ervin has) done a great job for us. Excellent leader. Excellent teammate. My heart really hurts for those two guys (Rahmir and Ervin),” Rhule said.

Coach Rhule said Bootle will red shirt due to his shoulder injury and hopefully “come back better than ever.”
