Joint public tax hearing set to take place Wednesday

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - A joint public hearing to discuss potentially increasing property taxes in Scotts Bluff County will be taking place Wednesday.

Representatives from the City of Gering, Western Nebraska Community College, Morrill Public Schools, City of Minatare, and Gering Public Schools will be at a joint public hearing to discuss a potential increase to property taxes.

This joint public hearing is apart of a state law that hopes to bring transparency to taxpayers and is required if political subdivisions with tax authority wish to go above the allowable growth percentage given to them by state law.

The hearing will take place at The Judy Chaloupka Theater on Western Nebraska Community College at 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday.
