Union Bar set to host 24th annual Rib Cook Off

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The 24th annual Rib Cook Off takes place this Saturday, September 23rd located at the Union Bar in Gering.

Judging begins after the Huskers game and customers can eat free ribs during the event.

Cooks, start cooking at 7:00am, as customers are invited at 10:00am.

Union Bar is located at: 1403 10th Street, Gering.

Scott Swanson, Owner of Union Bar, says, “It’s the 24th annual Union Bar Cook Off this is the 17th year that Carla and I have done it, the previous owner had done it for several years as well and it’s a lot of fun. Basically, it’s a tailgate part on the patio. Some of the contestants like to throw in a dessert so, they always put it on the side, and I said Well let’s judge that!”

Sean Gross, Contestant during event, says, “We hand out a lot of free food to the customers that are here, this year we are doing bacon wrapped water chestnuts, desserts, a lot of wings, it’s just fun and enjoyable.”
