SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scottsbluff High School Play Production team has had a strong start to its performing season.

For the past few months, the Scottsbluff High School Play Production team has been preparing to compete in competitions across the state. The team has already competed at Gering High School where they were named runner-up and at Holdrege High School where they won first place.

The school has two groups preparing plays, the first is called “Teachers on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” by Bradley Hayward for underclassmen or students that don’t have much acting experience. It’s a comedy play about stereotypical teachers dealing with stereotypical students.

The other play is called “Dirt” by Mandy Conner for more experienced actors. The play is a drama about a family that was hit hard during the 1935 Dust Bowl and how they overcome the challenges.

“I also feel like our group as a whole, every group so far has kind of bonded like a family and we’ve gotten to know each other a lot better,” senior Siena Van Der Veen said.

Scottsbluff High School will host a Dinner Theater on Nov. 20 which will feature performances from each group as well a dinner provided by the schools Pro Start team. Dinner will start at 3:30 p.m. and the shows will start at 7 p.m. Tickets for just the shows will cost $8 and can be bought online or at the door. Tickets for the dinner only which features monologues from the Intro to Theater Class will cost $15, and tickets for the shows and dinner will cost $22. Tickets for the dinner must be bought by Nov. 14 and can be done here.
